I had the privilege of photographing 80 of the world's oldest and most wild cattle breeds for a book authored by organic pioneer Werner Lampert. For Lampert, this endeavor serves as both a tribute and a heartfelt declaration of love towards these ancient bovine species and their wild counterparts. It stands as a fervent appeal to safeguard the precious diversity of our planet's wildlife.
Each photograph captures them in their most original and often spectacular environments and highlights the unique character of each animal with empathy and respect. While my team and I photographed some cattle breeds in meadows and pastures, for others, it meant embarking on day-long treks through Bhutan or searching for the last of their kind in the dense jungles of Cambodia.
