Ramona Waldner (1987, Austria) is a photographer and filmmaker from Tyrol whose work explores the intersection of human experience, everyday life, and remote environments. Her projects move between urban and rural spaces, documenting people in their working lives and personal passions, as well as in the context of nature, sport, and exploration.
From an early age, she discovered that photography and sport could open doors to stories, encounters, and unfamiliar worlds.
At the age of 20, she founded her own photography business while simultaneously studying communication design. This dual background enables her to develop projects from initial concept through to final execution, combining visual storytelling with a strong sense of narrative and structure.
Her work has taken her into diverse environments around the world, where she documents expeditions, communities, and ways of life shaped by both place and purpose. Her approach is rooted in observation and proximity, focusing on authentic human moments rather than staged imagery.
In 2023, Waldner made her debut as a filmmaker with Via Sedna, a 90-minute documentary. Shot under challenging conditions over the course of 84 days, Via Sedna has been screened at international film festivals and received multiple awards.
Across her photographic and film work, she is interested in what lies beneath the surface, the quiet spaces between action, the relationships formed through shared experience, and the subtle emotional layers that define human connection.
